Routes - Welsh Winter Routes

Unfortunately the conditions in Wales aren't as reliable as those in Scotland, and when the routes are in condition I tend to be in Scotland, hence this guide is a little thin.  Only area so far is Ffynnon Llyffant up on Carnedd Llewellyn.

Carnedd Llewellyn - Ffynnon Llyffant

North Gully I The routes are high up and finish right on the summit of Carnedd Llewellyn, hence snow accumulates.  All of the gullies are grade 1 snow climbs.  I did this route in March and it was in very good condition.  Solid grade 1 in very good nick.  There can be a cornice at the top.

Follow gully upwards and at the fork go left, straight on option has a buttress finish.  The buttresses by the way didn't look that hard.  I'm guessing at grade II but without doing them I can't say for definite.

BEWARE.  The reason we chose North Gully rather than South or Central gullies was that the wind was from the west and the snow in south and central was very dangerous. North Gully has a slightly more SW aspect and the snow was OK.  Take care.
